Los Angeles based experiential agency, Fly Helo, contracted Broadcast Management Group’s event management division to support the 3D Printed Frontier – an experiential event for their client, Bulleit Bourbon. This was the second live event for Bulleit following an inaugural activation in Oakland, CA.
Leading up to the live event, Broadcast Management Group participated in regular calls with the client to ensure the event planning process was on track. There were multiple changes to the scope of work and scheduling, which required regular changes to our internal scheduling, logistics, and additional coordination with our production partners. We had to pay close attention to technical revisions, as they impacted our generator requirements and front of house audio needs.
Fly Helo chose a unique venue in Austin, TX for their 3D Printed Frontier event – a 20,000 square-foot steel mill built in 1899. Broadcast Management Group was tasked with converting this unique space into a safe environment to host and entertain guests and potential Bulleit Bourbon customers for 4 nights. Working with the Fly Helo team, we transformed the venue over 3 days: building a custom 3D-printed bar, 3D-printed drink station, wood burning art installation, specialty drink bar, DJ area and performance stage. The venue posed specific event production challenges that needed to be addressed prior to the activation, specifically, power, heating, lighting, and guest restrooms – in addition to a leaking roof.
All production staff and vendors were local to Austin, TX. One of Broadcast Management Group’s Production Engineers served as the on-site technical manager and production coordinator, overseeing all event management logistics for the duration of the event.
Broadcast Management Group installed over 60 moving lights, 16 LED lekos, 8 exterior LED pars, and 3 projectors. In addition, we provided all FOH audio infrastructure to support live musical performances, all in-venue staging, redundant power and power distribution for the event, and infrastructure to support load-in and strike. The event drew over 300 guests per night and ran a total of 4 nights.
