The “IMDb Live Watch Party”, which streamed live to Twitter and Twitch, was shot with 9 cameras and consisted of a 30-minute pre-show, 30-minute post-show and 3-hour second screen show that ran concurrent to the live Oscars broadcast.

The second screen show consisted of social media content and graphics that tied into the Oscars broadcast, including facts and trivia about the major nominees. BMG was responsible for all on-site technical management, production and editorial staffing, managing redundant transmissions – including on-site encoding, lighting design, creative design and social integration. The BMG team created all show graphics for the live production, including all social media posts, and developed the overall social integration strategy, both leading up to the live program and during the live watch party.

BMG hired and managed the editorial team, including editors, producers and field crews. Our team of 5 on-site editors cut footage in real-time from the Oscars broadcast and previously recorded red carpet footage that was captured by our remote ENG crew.

Project Overview

IMDb contracted Broadcast Management Group to produce a 4-hour live stream during the 2017 Oscar Awards at NeueHouse in Hollywood. The “IMDb Live Watch Party”, which streamed live to Twitter and Twitch, was shot with 9 cameras and consisted of a 30-minute pre-show, 30-minute post-show and 3-hour second screen show that ran concurrent to the live Oscars broadcast.

The edit suite was networked to our production truck, which allowed finished clips to be pushed directly to and from the truck’s EVS system. BMG helped to facilitate a partnership with Twitter as well as the venue selection.
