Client BET
Location Washington, DC / Sanford, FL

The live production covered the outcome of the George Zimmerman trial in Sanford, Florida. "Not Guilty: The Zimmerman Trial Verdict" was a one-hour live special anchored from a studio facility in Washington, DC with both in-studio guests and remote guests from around the country. Broadcast Management Group's live production team had less than 12 hours to secure turn-key production services for the live special. This extremely small production window was made even more challenging by the fact that all major news outlets were providing coverage of the trail from Sanford, which meant many of the local resources were already booked. Broadcast Management Group was able to secure all the necessary video production resources to cover the client’s needs, including booking multiple satellite trucks, studio facilities, video production crews, and transmission paths.
Deliverables
  • Procurement of technical video production crews in Washington DC, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia and Sanford, FL
  • Procurement of studio facilities in Washington DC, New York, Orlando and Philadelphia
  • Procurement of satellite trucks in Washington DC and Sanford, FL
  • Development of show graphics for integration into the live video production
  • Design and securing of all domestic and international transmission paths and services for remotes and for the master control in New York and London

At the time of the live special, Broadcast Management Group was producing a weekly live news program for Arise News, titled “Arise Sunday“, which was anchored from a studio facility in Washington, DC. When BET expressed an interest in covering the Zimmerman Trial, knowing that they needed to quickly line up a studio location, we suggested they partner with Arise News and leverage the resources that Broadcast Management Group already had lined up for “Arise Sunday.” This proved to be a beneficial arrangement for both networks as they were both able to carry the live program and leverage existing technical resources, which brought them both economies of scale.
