Our live production team was contracted by The Atlantic to provide technical execution and support for the 2020 Atlantic Festival. Previously held as an in-person event, The Atlantic’s 2020 festival needed to be converted to a virtual experience. Broadcast Management Group was tasked with developing a technical solution that would allow event moderators and guests to remotely contribute to panel discussions held throughout the 4-day event.
Our system integration team engineered a remote production workflow that accommodated approximately 100 remote feeds over the course of the festival. Using personal devices, each guest was brought into our REMI environment via Skype. Skype feeds were managed using three of BMG’s Newtek TalkShow boxes, which allowed for twelve channels of incoming remotes simultaneously. Participants received a program return feed with mix-minus program audio. Each panel moderator received an IFB feed allowing our director to give them cues discreetly.
The 2020 Atlantic Festival was executed from BMG’s Live-At-Home REMI facility in Las Vegas. All remote feeds were brought into our facility where the show was switched, audio was mixed, and graphic and playback assets were integrated. Each live panel was streamed to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and to the Atlantic Festival website. Our live production team helped to execute 16 live panels over 4 days.
