Broadcast Management Group was contracted to provide live production services and production staffing for “Connect With Weather”, a live streaming series that was part of a joint partnership between The Weather Channel and Discovery Education.
The 1-hour production served as a virtual field trip for 40,000 middle school students across the US. “Connect With Weather” gave students the opportunity to learn about the science behind severe weather and featured a behind-the-scenes look at the Weather Channel’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA. “Connect With Weather” featured a host and meteorologist who were based at the Weather Channel headquarters in Atlanta. The two on-camera talent gave a tour of the Weather Channel facilities, then participated in weather-related experiments with middle school students around the country.
Broadcast Management Group provide live production support at the Samuel Gompers Middle School in Los Angeles, which was tied into larger program. The middle school served as a remote location for the “Connect With Weather” program. Students at the middle school participated in weather-related experiments in real time – under the instruction of the meteorologist in Atlanta – while other middle school students around the country were able to watch online.
Broadcast Management Group was responsible for all live production logistics, planning, and logistics for “Connect With Weather.” This included booking a satellite truck in Los Angeles and coordinating all transmissions between Los Angeles and Atlanta. In addition, Broadcast Management Group provided all technical equipment and production staff for the event.
