OKG, one of the industry’s top sports packagers, contracted Broadcast Management Group to provide technical facilities and staffing for five college football games on ESPN+. All games were within the Big 12 Conference throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
BMG leveraged its proprietary centralized technology and decentralized staffing workflow to meet OKG’s production needs. Our team provided a 7-camera REMI mobile unit for each game, which fed audio and video paths to our Broadcast Operations Center in Las Vegas, where each game was switched, mixed, and transmitted.
BMG’s REMI unit included 5 Grass Valley LDX-86 WorldCams and sports lens packages, 2 PTZ cameras, announcer kits, a field audio package, a transmissions package, and a backup generator. On-site, BMG provided an EIC and Tech Manager. OKG provided all other on-site support staff, including camera ops, audio assists, and utilities. At our Broadcast Operations Center, BMG supplied a staff EIC, A1, TD, and replay operator, while OKG provided the Producer and Director roles. BMG provided a remote Xpression Operator who handled graphics insertion, with OKG providing a remote graphics producer. BMG provided primary and back transmission paths to ESPN’s uplink facility and Bristol, CT.
OKG confirmed game locations 6-days in advance. Upon confirmation of the assignment, BMG’s production management team initiated calls with each host university to finalize parking, power, cable runs, and internet connectivity.
