What sets BMG apart from traditional system integrators?

What truly differentiates BMG is that our system integration services are a part of our managed services division. We are not a box seller or a volume-based integrator. By that I mean that we don’t just complete a project and move on; we establish long-term relationships with our clients. Our approach is strategic, focusing on building and maintaining systems that we will continue to support over time. How do you select clients to work with, and what is the strategy behind these relationships?

At BMG, we’re very deliberate in choosing the clients we work with. Our primary focus is on enterprise video clients– typically Fortune 500 companies with global reach, content studios, government agencies, and broadcast networks. These are organizations that require sophisticated, scalable production solutions.

We seek out clients where we believe we can bring significant, long-term value. Our strategy revolves around forming strategic partnerships rather than one-off projects, with many of our clients entrusting us with their production needs, leveraging the BMG Cloud Control Center™ and our expertise in operations, staffing, and creative services. What production services are typically outsourced to BMG and how does that create value to these long-term partners?

Many of our clients choose to have us build a studio at their location while outsourcing the rest of their production needs to BMG. By leveraging our private cloud, they can significantly reduce capital expenditures, staffing costs, and real estate needs. These outsourced services include media asset management, master control, and transmissions using our global connectivity. Additionally, our operations management and staffing solutions allow clients to access top talent more efficiently. We also offer creative services, including show development, producers, directors, editors, and graphic designers that clients can leverage on an on-demand basis. This approach aligns with their overhead production demands, offering the flexibility to scale up or down as needed, which is essential in today’s fast paced production environments. Ultimately, this creates substantial long-term value, ensuring that our clients’ resources are used optimally and their production goals are met with reliability and expertise.

Our long-term partnerships extend beyond our clients to our relationships with manufacturers. Unlike legacy integrators, BMG’s role as a power user of the technology we integrate allows us to provide manufacturers with valuable real-world insights and feedback. This close collaboration often makes us a beta partner with leading manufacturers, keeping us at the forefront of technological advancements.

This unique relationship directly influences how we design systems for our clients. Our engineering team isn’t just creating solutions for others; they’re also designing systems for BMG’s own live production needs. This dual role ensures that our engineers have a deep understanding of what works best in demanding, real-world environments. What is one of the biggest mistakes you’ve seen clients make when it comes to system integration?

One of the most common mistakes we see in the corporate market is when someone within the organization decides they need production services but doesn’t know who to call, so they turn to an AV integrator who specializes in conference rooms and monitor installations. This is a very different type of integration, and we’ve seen major errors in design and technology selection when this happens. We’ve had to completely redo spaces because of this lack of understanding, which is both costly and frustrating for the client.
