With less than one week before the HYROX North American Championship went live, InspoHub brought in BMG to provide the technical facilities, staffing, and live production infrastructure needed to support the event livestream.

Held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, the production required a flexible sports workflow that could capture a fast-moving fitness race across a large indoor competition floor.

BMG deployed RMU 3, built a customized video village, supported an eight-camera production system, integrated real-time graphics and stats, managed communications, and provided on-site and remote engineering support for the livestream to HYROX’s YouTube audience.

The Challenge: Supporting a Fast-Moving Championship on a Compressed Timeline

HYROX is built around continuous movement, with athletes running, transitioning, and competing across multiple zones throughout the venue. With less than a week to prepare, BMG needed to help InspoHub support a live sports broadcast that could follow the action, integrate real-time competition data, and keep production teams connected across the convention center.

Limited Prep Time

The BMG team was brought in with less than one week before the livestream.

That meant the team had to move quickly to plan the technical workflow, test client-specific equipment needs, staff the production, prepare RMU 3, and coordinate with InspoHub and HYROX teams across the U.S. and Europe.

Continuous Race Coverage

The competition format required more than static stage coverage.

It needed a workflow that could support cameras capturing athletes moving through the course, including roaming coverage, fixed perspectives, POV angles, and dynamic tracking shots using a Raptor Trike electric dolly system.

Real-Time Graphics and Stats

The livestream needed to incorporate HYROX’s real-time race data and scoring graphics.

BMG had to integrate with HYROX’s Ross XPression workflow so athlete information, stats, and competition updates could be included in the broadcast.

Multi-Team Communication

The event required communication between broadcast crews, technical teams, field positions, talent, and HYROX administrative teams.

BMG needed to build a communications workflow that could support production needs across the venue while keeping the livestream coordinated in real time.

The Solution: A Flexible Sports Production Workflow Built Around RMU 3

BMG delivered the technical facilities, mobile production infrastructure, staffing, and engineering support needed to help InspoHub execute the HYROX North American Championship livestream.

RMU 3 and Video Village Setup

BMG deployed RMU 3 to support the production workflow and used its Washington, DC office to test and integrate client-specific equipment before the event moved on site.

Once at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, BMG worked with InspoHub to build a customized video village tailored to the needs of the livestream.

The setup supported signal flow, production coordination, monitoring, communications, camera integration, and live streaming operations.

Eight-Camera Sports Coverage

BMG supported an eight-camera production system designed for the pace and layout of the HYROX competition.

The package included two wireless cameras, one manned camera, and five POV cameras. To capture the running elements of the race, BMG also procured a Raptor Trike electric dolly system, giving the production a smoother way to follow athletes in motion while maintaining broadcast-quality coverage.

BMG also supported additional client-specific equipment requests, including a gimbal with EasyRig, wireless video systems, and a VMIX replay system.

Graphics and Data Integration

BMG integrated with HYROX’s real-time graphics and stats workflow using Ross XPression.

This allowed the livestream to include competition information and scoring elements as part of the viewing experience, helping the broadcast communicate the pace, structure, and results of the championship.

Communications and Talent Support

BMG deployed a 20-beltpack Romeo communications system to support broadcast, technical, and HYROX administrative needs.

The team also provided broadcast headsets, IFBs, and monitors for talent, covering both booth and field requirements.

This communications setup helped keep production teams, technical operators, and event stakeholders aligned throughout the livestream.

On-Site and Remote Engineering Support

BMG provided on-location engineering support and technical management, including an Engineer in Charge, Technical Manager, and A1.

Additional remote engineering support was provided from BMG’s Chicago office, giving the production another layer of technical oversight and troubleshooting support during the event.

Impact

BMG helped InspoHub deliver a fast-turnaround livestream for one of HYROX’s major North American championship events.

In less than one week, BMG prepared RMU 3, tested and integrated client-specific equipment, built an on-site video village, supported an eight-camera workflow, incorporated real-time race graphics, and provided the communications, staffing, and engineering support needed for the live broadcast.

The production showed how BMG can adapt its live sports production infrastructure to a unique competition format, giving clients the technical support needed to capture fast-moving action, coordinate across teams, and deliver a professional livestream from a complex event environment.
