A Partnership That Redefined Financial Media

Since 2017, BMG has served as the turnkey managed services partner behind the Schwab Network, supporting the operation from initial consulting and facility design through daily
production, creative services, engineering, digital distribution, and ongoing network management.

Today, Schwab Network delivers live, real-time financial programming from Chicago Studios, the Chicago Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange. Behind that operation is an integrated BMG team supporting production, engineering, creative, staffing, digital publishing, media asset management, and operational oversight across the network.

The Challenge: Establishing a New Standard for Corporate Financial Broadcasting

When TD Ameritrade partnered with BMG in 2017, the goal was to create a first-of-its-kind 24/7 financial network that could operate with the quality, reliability, and pace of a professional broadcast operation while meeting the brand, compliance, and business requirements of a major financial institution.

First-of-Its-Kind Network Model

TD Ameritrade was building something the financial industry had not seen before: a direct-to-consumer, 24/7 OTT network owned and operated by a financial institution.

That meant the operation needed to be designed from the ground up, including the channel strategy, technical infrastructure, production workflows, staffing model, programming approach, and distribution plan.

Daily Live Programming

Financial content moves quickly. Market news changes throughout the day, guests and segments shift in real time, and live shows need to stay accurate, polished, and on schedule.

The network needed a daily production operation that could support live market coverage, investor-focused programming, expert commentary, interviews, and special event coverage with consistency.

Multi-Facility Growth

As the network expanded, BMG needed to support production across multiple locations, including Chicago Studios, the Chicago Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange.

Each location had to connect into the larger network operation while maintaining the same production standards, technical reliability, and operational oversight.

Brand Transition and Expansion

After Charles Schwab acquired TD Ameritrade, the network needed to transition from TD Ameritrade Network to Schwab Network.

That included a full rebrand, updated creative identity, expanded production infrastructure, new programming needs, and the launch of a studio on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, all while maintaining ongoing daily operations.

The Solution: A Turnkey Managed Services Model

BMG built and continues to operate Schwab Network through a turnkey managed services model that connects strategy, facilities, creative, staffing, engineering, digital distribution, and network operations.

The engagement has evolved across multiple phases, but the core model has remained the same: BMG operates as the long-term broadcast partner responsible for keeping the network moving every day.

Phase 01

Strategic Consulting

BMG began the engagement with a strategic consulting phase focused on goals, workflows, audience strategy, and operational planning.

During this phase, BMG recommended building a proprietary direct-to-consumer OTT channel, creating what would become the first corporate financial network of its kind.

BMG also developed the roadmap for the operation, including the technical model, daily production workflow, talent strategy, and audience engagement approach.

Phase 02

Facility Design & Build

Following the consulting phase, BMG designed and built the original Chicago broadcast facility from the ground up in 2017.

As the network grew, BMG continued expanding the infrastructure. In 2021, the operation moved into a larger facility, doubling production capacity to support increased programming. In 2024, BMG built and launched a studio on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange to support real-time market coverage from one of the most recognizable financial locations in the world.

Each facility was integrated into BMG’s Cloud Control Center™, enabling centralized production, monitoring, and disaster recovery across the network.

Phase 03

Creative Services & Brand

BMG has led the creative direction of the network since launch.

That work began with the original network identity, graphics package, and show formats. It continued through the full rebrand under Charles Schwab and later expanded into refreshed programming formats, virtual sets, show opens, promos, and on-air visual identity.

BMG also supports the talent and guest side of the operation, including identifying professional on-air talent, training the client’s financial experts for on-air appearances, producing special event programming, and managing booking teams and guest strategy.

Phase 04

Staffing, Operations & Engineering Support

BMG provides the full-time managed services team behind Schwab Network, covering management, creative, producing, technical operations, and engineering.

The network’s live shows are directed, switched, monitored, and supported daily by BMG-managed teams. Behind the scenes, BMG provides centralized engineering oversight, system reliability management, equipment lifecycle support, and operational continuity planning.

The network is supported through defined SLAs, redundant network paths, and 24/7 coverage to maintain broadcast continuity across live programming and distribution.

Phase 05

Digital Services & YouTube

In 2023, BMG expanded its role to include management of Schwab Network’s YouTube channel.

This added a digital distribution layer to the managed services engagement. BMG took over day-to-day channel management and publishing, developed a content strategy aligned with live programming and key market moments, by repurposing live broadcast content into digital-first clips and segments.

Media asset management plays a key role in that workflow. As live programming is produced, BMG helps ensure content can be organized, archived, searched, and reused for digital publishing, future programming, and long-term content value.

That work helped extend Schwab Network beyond the live broadcast environment and contributed to 129% year-over-year growth in digital viewership.

Impact

Through BMG’s turnkey managed services model, the Schwab Network has become more than a daily programming operation. It is an owned media platform that helps Charles Schwab connect directly with investors through real-time market coverage, expert commentary, interviews, and financial education.

With BMG managing the production, staffing, engineering, creative, and digital workflows behind the network, Schwab can focus on the audience and the message. The network now produces more than 1,800 live programs annually, maintains 99.9% uptime, and continues to expand its reach through digital platforms, including 129% year-over-year growth in YouTube viewership.

For Charles Schwab, the result is a broadcast operation that supports brand visibility, audience engagement, and direct communication with investors every day.
