AtlanticLIVE enlisted our live production division to provide technical execution and support of a virtual event titled “In Pursuit of Happiness.” The 7-hour program streamed live simultaneously to Restream, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
“In Pursuit of Happiness” featured a mix of both live and pre-taped content. The program included 13 live panels and 25 remote guests from across the country. All remotes were transmitted to our broadcast hub in Las Vegas using Skype. Each Skype remote was integrated into the live program using Newtek Talkshow appliances. Remote guests received a mix-minus and program return feed sent to their devices.
In addition to the primary feeds, BMG also managed the playout of side stage content throughout the program. Side stage content was driven from a separate control room and separate live encoder at our broadcast hub.
BMG’s creative services team edited a total of 50 pre-taped segments for integration into the live program. The pre-taped segments included panel discussions, VO recordings, break sequences, and session introductions. In addition, BMG’s creative team built and maintained a run-of-show for the event.
Utilizing our REMI hub in Las Vegas, we executed “In Pursuit of Happiness” using centralized technology and decentralized staffing. Managing the show on-location in Las Vegas was BMG’s staff TD, A1, EIC, playback operator, and TX engineer. All other personnel had remote access into our technical core and performed their duties from their homes. Remote roles included the program director, graphics operator, encoding engineer, production manager, and line producer. The “In Pursuit of Happiness” execution took place across three time zones and four cities – Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC.
