Inside BMG Live Production
Live production has changed.
Expectations are higher, timelines are tighter, and productions need to scale without losing consistency. For most organizations, that’s where challenges start to surface.
At BMG, live production is built as a connected system. On-site capture, REMI workflows, studio production, and cloud infrastructure all operate together through our Network Operations Center in Washington, DC. That integration allows productions to move faster, adapt in real time, and maintain broadcast-level quality across every show.
Leading that effort is our EVP of Live Production, Andrew Ryback, who works with our production, engineering, and operations teams to support projects nationwide across sports, news, entertainment, and enterprise communications.
This approach isn’t about solving each show individually. It’s about building a system that supports every production from the start.

College Basketball: SIAC & SWAC Championships
March was defined by execution.
Across the SIAC Championships in Morrow, Georgia, and the SWAC Tournament in Atlanta, BMG delivered back-to-back doubleheader broadcasts on ESPN+ and ESPNU, supporting multiple games, tight turnarounds, and consistent production across both weekends.
Each broadcast followed the same model. On-site crews handling camera coverage, audio, and arena operations. Mobile units supporting the field. Centralized production teams inside BMG’s Network Operations Center in Washington, DC, managed switching, graphics, replay, and overall coordination in real time.
That structure is what makes doubleheaders possible.
But more than anything, this month was about the team behind it.
From early call times through the final buzzer, our crews on-site and in the NOC delivered the same level of focus and execution across every game.
Shoutout to our production teams, engineers, and freelance partners across both championships. Their consistency, preparation, and professionalism make these broadcasts happen.
College Hockey: Sioux Falls Regionals
BMG was on-site at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center for the Sioux Falls Regionals.
The semifinals on Thursday featured Quinnipiac vs. Providence and North Dakota vs. Merrimack, followed by the regional final on Saturday between North Dakota and Quinnipiac.
For this event, the production was on-site with a full-production truck. Our creative and technical team produced spectacular coverage across both the doubleheader and the final.
Hockey moves quickly, and momentum can shift at any moment. Across back-to-back games and into the championship, the production had to stay sharp, responsive, and consistent from start to finish.
That’s where the team made the difference.
Each event brings its own demands. This one called for a fully on-site approach, and the team delivered.
Latest Insights from the BMG Team
As production models and content strategies continue to evolve, we’ve been publishing a series of articles focused on how organizations are building and operating modern media workflows.
Below are a few recent pieces:
Media Asset Management Guide
Our latest in-depth guide breaks down how MAM systems function as the operational backbone of modern content workflows, connecting production, playout, distribution, and archive into a single environment. Our Director of Media Asset Management Services, Mohammad Ataya, explores how different organizations, from broadcasters to enterprise teams, are using MAM to manage scale, reduce inefficiencies, and support long-term content strategy.
Why Social Media Is Now Part of Your Broadcast Infrastructure
Social platforms are no longer a secondary distribution channel. They are a primary touchpoint for audience engagement. This article from our Director of Master Control, Playout, & Transmission, Karen Landry, explores how content operations need to evolve to support multi-platform publishing, vertical video, and real-time coordination between linear, streaming, and social environments.
The Future of Broadcast Infrastructure
This piece by our CEO, Todd Mason, examines the industry’s shift toward centralized infrastructure, REMI workflows, and cloud-connected production environments. As traditional models become more difficult to scale, organizations are rethinking how production, playout, and distribution are structured to support long-term growth.
Employee Spotlight: Martina Koleva
This month, we’re highlighting Martina Koleva, BMG’s Chief Financial Officer.
