Broadcast Management Group recently provided production staffing support for Blast Premier during their Blast Pro Series esports event in Miami, FL. The multi-day event took place at the Watsco Center at the University of Miami. BMG provided a team of utilities to support load-in and strike, as well as camera operators and PA’s to support the live stream. The Miami event marked the 1st U.S. destination for the Blast Pro Series tournament.
Crewing for esports is a challenge as it’s a unique production environment – a mix between sports and entertainment that moves very fast. For this particular project, there wasn’t a budget to travel people from outside markets, so we relied entirely on local talent in Miami. We combed our database and contacted qualified freelancers with both live sports and live entertainment experience, looking particularly for people with existing esports experience. Once we identified potential talent, we conducted phone interviews with each person to review the scope of the project and ensure they had a clear understanding of their role and the goals and objectives of the event.
For the Blast Pro Series project, having a live production background helped us in crewing the project, as we knew what skill sets to look for and where to find talent. If you’re in need of production staffing services for an upcoming project, we’d be happy to help.
